Peter P and Margaretha plus …

The photograph below contains a mix of faces familiar, less familiar, and completely unknown. On the right we see Grandpa (Chris) standing behind Grandma (Malinda), who is holding one-year-old (or thereabouts) Matilda on her lap. Matilda’s age enables us to date the picture to sometime around 1929.

Next to them are two men thus far unidentified. Could either of them be related to Margaretha Epp Buller? Her father was no longer living at that time, so we can exclude him from consideration.

Next to the unidentified men are Peter P and Margaretha Epp Buller. Peter would have been roughly sixty at the time of this picture, Margaretha fifty-nine. On the far left of the picture is an unidentified woman of about the same age as (or possibly a little older than) Margaretha.

Given the year, this photograph was probably taken in Nebraska (since Peter P and Margaretha did not move to California until 1936). Beyond that, it is hard to say. Identifying characteristics are few: only a brick sidewalk running across the yard. One wonders if the location was the Epp family farm where Peter P and Margaretha lived until they left for California.
