Correction: Matrilocality … and Bullers 6 (and last)

Dad (Carl) corrected my statement from memory in the Matrilocality 6 post (here), where I wrote:

My memory also hints that Aunts Sarah and Maria owned the north 80 acres, and I would not be at all surprised if Peter P and Margaretha gave each of their unmarried daughters half of that 80, which was then farmed by Grandpa and Grandma.

That memory hint was wrong. In fact, Grandpa Chris’s sister Anna owned 40 acres and his brother Pete owned 40. Sarah and Maria owned their own 40-acre plots farther north.

Buller Time has a request in with the York County Register of Deeds to try to find out who owned what land and when it was acquired. The nearest plat map available online is from 1924, which was three years before Grandpa and Grandma married and acquired the farm. That plat map shows John Runnalls as the owner of the entire quarter.

Now that the record has been corrected, we will hope that the York County Register of Deeds is able to provide us with concrete details that clarify the picture even further.
