Lushton then and now

The Lushton Centennial book (1987) identifies the buildings in the photograph below as George’s filling station on the left and the Lushton bank on the right.

Of course, the bank building remains today, but the filling station and the trees in front of it are gone without a trace.

The quality of the top photograph does not permit us to make out much detail, but there is clearly writing in the windows, a gas pump with a glass globe at the top, and possibly several signs or banners out front. That leaves a lot of questions unanswered:
  • Who was George?
  • When was this photograph taken?
  • What happened to this filling station?
  • Where were Lushton’s other gas stations located?
  • Does anyone remember going to this gas station?
As always, further information is welcome!
